WE GET IT MILEY
I wrote this searing commentary in response to recording artist Miley Cyrus' 2013 performance at the Video Music Awards. I read a lot of responses and arguments on both sides of the controversial performance to inform myself properly. While the review shows signs of an immature writer, I still think it was a good first attempt at culture commentary.
OUT OF MANY, ONE
My second Letter From the Editor of this year, "Out of many, one", was dedicated to unpacking the assualt on birthright citizenship in current Republican politics. To successfully pull this piece off I had to make sure I was up to date on the GOP presidential canidates positions on the topic.
HUNGRY FOR CHANGE
I wrote this review my freshman year because the entire ODYSSEY staff was assigned to write a review of "Hungry for Change", a documentary that we watched in class. I decided to weave in social commentary on obesity in the United States into my review to make it more meaty.
